Interactive Technologies History

Everything started with Minority Report. This was the film that popularized the gesture recognition and interaction with holographic screens.

"A computer interface inspired by the futuristic system portrayed in the movie Minority Report, starring Tom Cruise, could soon help real military personnel deal with information overload. The system lets users don a pair of reflective gloves and manipulate images projected on a panoramic screen. A mounted camera keeps track of hand movements and a computer interprets gestures."

Time Machine, Star Trek, The Island are also another futuristic films that developed the concept.
